into thin air#27

How do specific mental and emotional qualities (such as confidence, self-control, and more) make a person fit to climb Everest but also possibly lead to disaster?

For someone to be able to do something that is very diffucult such as climb Everest. They need to first off be in the right state of mind becuase when your at high altitudes your metal state changes. if you are already in a bad emotional and metal state of mind it becomes very diffucult to go on. Along with the right state of mind you need to have confidence That you have the ablity so achieve your goal and make it to the top. if you lack confience you are more likly to give up when the journy to the top gets really hard. self control is another quality you would need to climb everest. when I say self control I mean that you are going at the right pace. also that you know your own limits, that your not trying to prove you are better then someone else at climbing or even showing that you can breath with out an oxegen tank at a very high altitude because that can lead to your death.

I think sometimes if you are over confiedent and have the mental frame of mind that you can do anything, such as be stronger then nature, or that mind set were you believe since you have done somthing like this before you can do anything. Then this can lead to a horribe disaster. I think if you have a balence of confidence and you know that you are dealing with nature. This would mean you know that it is capable of doing anything or haveing a strom at anytime.
